This week we talk about how we best deal with things like our calling, meaning and purpose with so many big UNKNOWNS in the world. To talk about this question I've interviewed one of the smartest and most interesting people I've ever met, Dr. David Fogel.
You don't know what you don't know.
David brings up a good point and example. As an expert in a certain field, you look at things like newspaper articles or stories in that field, and can immediately say it is false or incorrect. However; it is very easy to read other things we are not experts at and just accept them without questioning it.
Dr. Fogel's diverse background includes nearly 200 plenary and invited lectures for professional societies, companies, and government organizations. He has taught undergraduate, graduate, and adult learning courses, has led entrepreneurial efforts in video game development, computational analysis of emotion in text and speech, and holds over 10 patents, including a medical tinnitus masking device that adapts to an individual's unique needs.
Listen to David's defining moment, where he jumped into what changed the course for him. He shares an amazing story back from the 90's where he built a system that showed him they have some powerful techniques that can be applied to the problems of the world.
